Serene Guest Bedroom
The homeowners had a clear vision: they wanted their condo's guest room to be a welcoming, comfortable retreat. The challenge? The room's unique shape, featuring an angled cut-out that made furniture placement tricky.
The centerpiece of our design was an art installation above the bed, featuring ceramics from Cassie Butcher. Rather than opting for traditional, right-angled art, we chose this installation for its asymmetrical yet balanced appeal. Its colors beautifully echoed the tones in the fabrics we used, creating a harmonious and interesting space.
The project unfolded over six months, with investment details outlined from the start to avoid any surprises. One of our key design choices was a custom-made bolster pillow for the bed. Instead of using multiple pillows, which could make the room feel busy, this single, stretch-across pillow brought a neat, uncluttered look. We had it tailored to reach halfway across the bed, perfectly aligning with the outer pillows.
Our hope for this guest room was to craft a space that not only offers comfort but also intrigues and delights. The homeowners, being avid art collectors, inspired us to incorporate various art forms into the room. Along with the ceramics, there's a tapestry on one wall and a unique interactive painting by Teresa Roche at the foot of the bed. This piece can be taken off the wall, allowing guests to shake the loose pieces and create a new composition, adding a playful and personal touch to their stay.
In this project, we aimed to balance soothing colors with fascinating art elements, making the guest room a cozy, inviting, and visually stimulating space. Our goal was for every guest to feel at ease and inspired by their surroundings, making their stay memorable.
